We had a fantastic night at Fancy That with our Mat Hatter Party in honor of Crece's Birthday this month. Everyone had to come with a Beautiful Hat but with Hand made elements and recycled objects. Thanks to everyone who put in such a huge effort it was so great, but one the hats stood out more than the others and it had to be our winner... Congratualtions Heather your efforts were amazing and took home the Prize for best hat!!

Fancy That has reopened!!

Hi Everyone

We would like to start by saying our Hearts and Prayers are with eveyone who has been effected by the floods. Even if you haven't been inundated with water all your efforts in helping others has truly effected everyone. In this dévastation it was wonderful to see the whole community come together in this time of need.

Fancy That was closed all week last week, but we are now OPEN and up and running. If you need some special time out away from everything we have a Free Scrap day on Wednesday morning and Friday Night. Our regular Tuesday Night class 19th of January will be going ahead with a wonderful layout called Mia.. If you would like to book in for whatever class or free time, please call us so we can put your name down.

Hi Everyone

As you are aware Queensland has been through horrific floods in the past few days! Unfortunately we have had to close our doors whilst this has been happening. Although all of
us here were very lucky not to have lost our houses. Many of our Family, friends and customers weren't that fortunate. Instead of reopening the shop last Friday we have decided to keep the shop closed until Monday 17Th of January in order to go out and help anyone in need. Our thoughts and Prayers are with all the people that have been effected by this horrific event. Thanks for your understanding and we look forward to seeing you all in the near future.

Layouts and Inspiration

This month is packed full of wonderful layouts, cards and projects for everyone. We are focusing on handmade embellishments this month that will be the envy of any scrapper and you will learn to create these at a fraction of the cost of brought ones! And you can be proud to say I made it myself!!
We have classes for kids during the school holidays which include a wonderful card class, a mini book, and a calendar which would be perfect as a gift for Christmas. Our Kids classes are on display in store but be quick to book in as there are limited places. (Children should be at least 8 yrs of age)
We also have an exciting new idea for a canvas layout. We have been inundated with requests for beginner’s classes for cards and scrapbooking. We are listening and we have incorporated them into our calendar.

Be inspired to create your very own hand made & personal cards. We offer new techniques for beginners.
Every Monday morning you will make and take 2 cards home. The cost of this class is $12.00 ( unless it is a specialty card)
this will include all materials for the class. Bring your own tools and adhesives to use. Tea and coffee will be provided.

v Scrapbookers
Stuck for ideas? Don’t know where to start? Or just need to refresh!! Come in and do a beginners class or how we like to put it “ Inspirational class”! The cost of this class is $10 + Products. You will learn new techniques each month so you
can create different ways if capturing your memories forever! Let us show you where to start and inspire you!!!!

Canvas Class
Nerrida has created a wonderful canvas layout as a class for this month. She will be showing you a blending technique that will be the base of your background for this layout.
She will also be showing you a technique for creating flowers and trees on the layout.

Kids classes @ Fancy That

At Fancy That over the school holidays we had Kids classes. Firstly we started with Card making classes - the kids got stuck into creating some hand made cards and they were awesome. Below is a picture of some of the kids that attended out 'Canvas for Kids" class and it was fully booked out. Each child created a master piece of their very own. They used a 12 x 12 canvas as a base and I bet everyone will hang them up in their homes for all to see ....WELL DONE!! Don't forget to look out for our kids classes during the school holidays. For all the kids who attended we are looking forward to you returning in the next school holidays. Thanks Kids!!

Hello Everyone

What a world wind of a month May was for Fancy That! Firstly we ended up in Sydney at the beginning of the month at SIA ( Scrapbooking Industry Australia) There we had the chance to see all the new stock coming for the next few months and got to play with them in classes and make and takes. We got to meet such inspirational people from all over world in the scrapbooking industry such as Heidi Swapp, Wendy Senger, Melissa Kennedy, Becky Fleck to name a few. These ladies are so talented, and have really inspired us to push our creative minds even further. Now we are going to teach you!

This month at Fancy That our classes will be focused on introducing the use of Glimmermists. These are a must for any scrapbookers collection. You will learn to incorporate this wonderful texture onto your pages to create a different look. You can create your own back grounds and high light your embellishments with this amazing product. We are currently securing these spray mists and shortly they will be in stock in store. But until then we will get started teaching you how to use them. Most of the layouts have some sort of mist on them this month. Please check our blog on how to make Glimmer Mist paper flowers!
Also new this month is our Kit classes. Our first will be held on a Tuesday night (29th of June) with the new Kaiser range Le Chateau. All materials are included in this class - so don't forget to come and check it out!

In Mid May we had our 2nd retreat at Brookfield QCCC. What a huge success that weekend was and Yes we have already started organizing our next retreat for 2011. This time is will be later in the year in August. We will post the details in the next few weeks so you can start getting organized now! But until then we are having another small retreat in October this YEAR!!! Yes thats right... This retreat is called a

NO FRILLS RETREAT!

Your layout will be judged and a winner will be picked by the staff at Fancy That and will be announced on our blog. A prize will be awarded to the winner. So jump on board and have some fun.

· Kutalicious is a local company owned by Cherree and Densie. These ladies have been so busy creating stunning die cuts made from mirror , acrylic in clear, black & white that will certainly make any layout pop! There is a range of cute words for the card makers as well. You can use them on their own or ink them up especially with alcohol inks... Just stunning!!

Mum’s & Bub’s Day

Stuck at home with your baby? Love to scrap but need inspiration and an adult conversation with likeminded mummies? We have the solution sorted... Only if your baby is not mobile, and is in a pram (for safety reasons).
We have six places available one Friday per month in the morning from 9.30am-12.30pm.
This is a free scrap morning; you will need to bring your own projects to work on, being mindful of space restrictions with prams and gear. Please check calendar for dates.

This was a class we did last week at Fancy That . The page was a single layout using the beautiful La Di Da range from Kaisercraft. Debbie from Springfield Lakes came to do the class with us, but just to show you even though we have a certain range of papers on our layouts you can adapt them to what ever suits your photo's and theme's. Debbie used some of the Doodlebug range, Sassafraslass & RW lazer cuts chipboard to complete her page. It looked amazing Debbie! Thanks for sharing your layout with everyone

Paper Towel / Glimmer mist flowers

Hi today we just wanted to share with you how to make flowers out of your left over paper towel once you have used them for your glimmer mists. You can also just spray on paper towel to do the same thing.
Firstly cut rough circle out of the paper towel. We have used two contrasting colours for a earthy effect.

Make sure you cut several different size circles and they don't have to be exact. the more different the circles are the better the effect.

Once you have done this , scrunch your paper circle up a little, then flatten them back out.

Arrange the circles on top of one another largest to smallest. Once you have done this pierce a hole in the middle of all the layers with a paper piercer. Then place a brad in the middle to secure them all together...

There you go .. you have just created your own flowers for your layouts or cards.

Retreat 2010

Wow what time we had last weekend .. We had our Second retreat and it was so much better than the last one.... Everyone was relaxed and enjoyed the weekend to the fullest. So Thank you to all who attended. You were such a wonderful group... !! We had so much fun..!!

Jungle Bug

This is just a peek of the new ranges from Kaiser that are in store now! Hey Birdie & Jungle Bug... They are so nice.. You must grad your's ASAP... While we were in Sydney we had the pleasure to do a Kaiser Craft Class with truly amazing Melissa Kennedy... This lady is just brilliant .. The class was one of our favourites to do and again with this class we got to use Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist.. Can't wait teach you this layout you're going to love it. So please look out for the Kaiser Class in June in our new Kit Classes coming soon....

It was so Great to be able to meet the Author of "Page Maps" the talented Becky Fleck!

Below is a photo of Carolyn and I when we did Becky's class at SIA. Becky showed us how to take a simple sketch from her book and give it 3 different looks... It was awesome! This lady is just so talented...

This is the first book Becky released and the second will be due out in Australia about October so we can't wait for that.... We will let you know when it is in store. Its a worth while investment and it gives you hundreds of ideas for layouts ... I must for anyone !

Nerrida, Tracey, Cressey & Carolyn

Hi Everyone... well firstly we would like to apoligize for not updating the blog of late.. we have been so busy getting ready for our retreat on the 14th,15th & 16th of May. But firstly We have just got back from SIA in Syndey. It was fantastic .. we learnt so many new techniques and got to hang out with the Best of The Best of the Scrapbooking world. These ladies are truly talented . Cressey and myself got to do the Tattered Angels Class with the "Amazing" Wendy Senger . This was mind blowing . We have had the stock in the shop and in our own stash but we didn't realise what we could actually do with it.. So we are set to teach you what to do with these brillaint products.

Hello Everyone

What A month this is shaping up to be... Firstly we would like to wish all the Mum’s a Very Happy Mother’s Day. Whether you’re a mum or not we hope your celebrations are just wonderful and you celebrate with your mum or family on the 9th of May.

We are off to the retreat this month so Fancy That will be closed from Midday on the 14th of May ( Friday) and reopening on Monday 17th of May as usual. We are so excited to be going for our Second retreat and we have a jam packed weekend arranged for all the ladies attending. Can’t wait!!!

We are off to SIA (Scrapbooking Industry Australia) in the first week of May. We are so excited to be learning from the masters of the industry and looking forward to bringing back new products and exciting new techniques to teach you. During this week ( May 3rd, 4th & 5th) we will unable to have any classes. The card making classes on Tuesday will go ahead as usual but the Tuesday night class is cancelled, but will resume on Tuesday 11th of May as usual. Free Scrap Day on Wednesday will still be on.

Holidays & Closed Days

Layouts and Inspiration

Our Layouts this month are focused on Stitching. Most of our layouts this month you will be able to learn how to incorporate stitching for another effect on your layouts. Also this month we have a Kaiser Wood Workshop. In this workshop you choose your project and we will help you bring it to life.

Challenge Pack
Each Month there is two different challenge packs on offer. These are fun to do. All products are included in pack and then you bring it into store when you have completed the challenge to go into the draw to win either a $10 or $20 store voucher. Come on Take the challenge!!

Blog Sketch
At least once a month there will be a sketch posted on our blog www.fancythatscrapbooking.blogspot.com
All you have to do is create your own interpretation on the sketch, forward a photo of your layout to fancythatscrap@optusnet.com.au . Your layout will be judged and a winner will be picked by the staff at Fancy That and will be announced on our blog. A prize will be awarded to the winner. So jump on board and have some fun.

New Stock
In store we have the new ranges from Making Memories – Pitter Patter . These are just stunning and they make the most amazing baby layouts or cards. Fancy Pants – About a girl range. This range is vibrant , bold and sassy. We have new products from a New Company – Kutalicious.
Kutalicious is a local company owned by Cherree and Densie. These ladies have been so busy creating stunning die cuts made from mirror , acrylic in clear, black & white that will certainly make any layout pop! There is a range of cute words for the card makers as well. You can use them on their own or ink them up especially with alcohol inks... Just stunning!!
Unfortunately Our new stock from Prima has been delayed indefinitely.

Beginners Classes

We have been inundated with requests for beginner’s classes for cards and scrapbooking. We are listening and we have incorporated them into our calendar.
v Card Makers
Be inspired to create your very own hand made & personal cards. We offer new techniques for beginners. Every Monday morning you will make and take 2 cards home. The cost of this class is $12.00 ( unless it is a specialty card) this will include all materials for the class. Bring your own tools and adhesives to use. Tea and coffee will be provided.
v Scrapbookers
Stuck for ideas? Don’t know where to start? Or just need to refresh!! Come in and do a beginners class or how we like to put it “ Inspirational class”! The cost of this class is $10 + Products. You will learn new techniques each month so you can create different ways if capturing your memories forever! Let us show you where to start and inspire you!!!!

Mum’s & Bub’s Day

Stuck at home with your baby? Love to scrap but need inspiration and an adult conversation with likeminded mummies? We have the solution sorted... Only if your baby is not mobile, and is in a pram (for safety reasons).
We have six places available one Friday per month in the morning from 9.30am-12.30pm.
This is a free scrap morning; you will need to bring your own projects to work on, being mindful of space restrictions with prams and gear. Please check calendar for dates.
